At 70mph your car is traveling at 100 feet per second, snap your fingers, you have just traveled 100 feet! Now then, think about the last conversation that you had while driving your car…….do you remember any part of that drive?

Those who use their cell phones while driving are oblivious to just about everything and anything going on around them. It really does not matter just how good of a driver we are or rather think we may be, reality is, if you are using your cell phone while driving ( hands-free or not) the potential of becoming involved in or causing an accident increases dramatically.

A recent study by the University of Utah concluded that taking on a cell phone while driving is as dangerous if not more so than driving while intoxicated.

The kicker is that most of the time our conversations are going something like this ” NOTHING, what are you doing?” So, you may want to ask yourself: how important is that call really, considering that you are driving a lethal weapon? The difference between a gun and a car is that it is pretty hard to kill more than one person with one bullet. It is really easy to kill many people with just one car. Please give that some thought the next time you are talking about the ball game or the latest sale at Nordstroms.

If you are a parent and you have a young person who is getting ready to start driving, please be a good example and refrain from cell phone use while driving. Habits are easily learned but bad habits are very hard to break and in this case potentially lethal. Don’t teach your puppy that it is ok to chew the rug.

Year: 1932
Make: Rolls-Royce
Model: Barker bodied, Phantom II

1932 was the beginning of the Great Depression; it was an extraordinarily difficult time for most. For the very fortunate few however, opulence was still affordable. Automobile manufacturers like Duessenberg, Packard, Lincoln, Mercedes-Benz and others were still building very expensive motorcars. In fact, the Packard Motorcar Co. hedged its bets and built even more opulent cars in the early to mid ‘30’s.

In October of 1932 Rolls-Royce displayed its new car at the Paris Auto Show.
The car was ordered to be built, Barker having been hired to perform the coachwork. The chassis number on the car was 50MS. The car was ordered in Black over Brown leather and was placed on the Rolls-Royce display stand at the Paris Auto Show on October 6, 1932.

This car:

This very car, chassis Nr. 50MS is that car. This Phantom II stood on the Rolls-Royce stand from October 6, 1932 to October 16, 1932. While being displayed, the car was purchased by the Pasha of Marrakech and after the Paris show was delivered to him at the Hotel Claridge on the Champs Ely Sees, Paris in November of 1932.

We fell in love with this motorcar. Its lines are graceful, the very long hood and sweeping fenders make this particular Barker bodied car, in the opinion of many and us, one of the best looking cars of its time; most certainly one of the best looking Phantom II’s of its era.

What may make the car even more appealing to us, is that the car is remarkably original and un-restored, even the mascot is original to this car. The doors still close like fine cabinets, remarkable, given that the body and door frames are built of Ash. The interior wood in nearly perfect and though the car shows a nice patina and some wear, this would certainly be expected after some 75 years.

Unbelievably, the car is available for sale.

Enjoy!

If you are hooked on driving-like most of us or have always wanted to get yourself and your car onto a racetrack and learn how to drive it really well, there is a company that will help you do just that.

A very good friend of ours, David Mecey, is one of the world’s finest photographers, an accomplished racecar driver and in our opinion, one of the best driving instructors that one could ever ask for, has obtained the franchise for a driving school here in the southwest called Hooked on Driving.

David has amassed an extraordinary group of driving coaches to help you to become the driver that you have always wanted to become. We know these guys; they are some of the very best that the business has to offer!

Hooked on Driving will offer driving schools starting in April of this year at some of the best racetracks in California and Nevada, including Willow Springs Raceway, Button Willow Raceway Park, California Motor Speedway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Pricing is extraordinarily reasonable. Get your friends together, sign up and go!!!!!

More information as well as registration forms, can be found on the Hooked on Driving web site Hooked on Driving
