1968 Porsche 911 race car for sale..Tony a2z Tribute car….FANTASTIC!
December 31st, 2009, Cars For Sale
SOLD
Offered for sale is this fantastic 1968 Porsche race car.
1968 marked the first time that Porsche won a Trans-Am championship. The car was engineered by Mac Tilton, built by Mac, Don Breslauer and Tony Adamowicz and brilliantly driven by Tony. The 2.o liter Porsche beat many of the larger capacity 5.o liter cars often and quite handily.
The orignal car from 1968 appears to have been lost forever. Marc Zurlinden decided that the car was so important however, that it should be rebuilt…reborn if you will. Marc acquired a tub and started the project. Unlike most tribute cars however, the original team members were still available and were consulted for this build and the car built to the same specifications as the original 1968 championship winning car. The car is so true to the original that it was invited to participate at last years Monterey Historics at Laguna Seca…..a very, very rare honor indeed for any car, let alone a tribute car. Not only was the car invited to participate- it was also very, very competitive.
This fantastic turn key race car runs with an HONEST 2.o liter motor and runs Solex carbs as did the original in ‘68. We can not stress enough how much attention was put towards re-creating a nearly perfect copy of the original race car.
Tony Adamowicz has been back in the cars office at both the Rennsport event at Daytona and the historic races in Portland, Oregon. Marc Zurlinden drove the car brilliantly in Monterey; Marc being a very accomplished driver himself.
This car is offered at $95,000 (U.S.) Full build sheet and build photos available. Offers / interesting trades considered.

Greetings fellow motorsports enthusiasts and Happy New Year to All,
2010 reaches out to all of us to make this year an exciting year in vintage venues. I must say that it has been truly an honor to be apart of recreating the 1968 under 2 liter Trans Am Porsche 911. Winning the championship back then was with a deep sense of motorsports history, especially for Porsche enthusiasts. The original cast of Milestone Racing characters, Mac Tilton, Don Bresslauer and myself provides Marc Zurlinden, project engineer, the technical expertise necessary to create a first class tribute to the original championship car. To this day the original remains lost and until it is found , this tribute 911 remains as thee most accurate representation. Much of the original suspension , secret handling techniques that made the car a winner have made their way in to modern contemporary 911’s.
The U27 history is documented in Dave Freedman’s wonderful book “Trans Am the Pony Car Wars 1966-1972″. For those who are not familiar with the read, I urge you to pick up a copy and re live history. Never again will there be a more successful professional manufactures championship series than the Trans Am.
No expense was spared to make this tribute car thee very best representation. I am available for consultation , even track test time for anyone who purchases this fine specimen. Where ever this car appears, the curiosity draws racing fans towards it, just to visually see how it was back in the days.
My good friend Klaus Kindor has accurately told the saga of U27, on this website.
Anyone with thoughts of being a part of vintage racing with a Porsche car, would want to consider this one to compete with. A tribute car is more than a replica, as it has the build expertise of the original Milestone Racing team .
More period photos and historic recap can be found on my personal bio- site:www.a2zracer.com
Look forward to staying touch with you regarding U27, any questions you may have, please feel free to contact me directly either through e mail or my cell phone 714- 478- 4589
Cheers ! Tony Adamowicz
